Is it possible today to virtualiz the CER?

With most IT facilities now deep into virtualization is it possible to migrate the CER into a virtualized world? Given that certain aspects of the broadcast center can easily be done such as SQL databases is it possible to have a fully VM’ed system that includes the video servers, automation and graphic? With VMware and Hyper-V, especially Server 2016, pushing new technologies is it time to consider this? Is this the new frontier in Broadcasting, similar to the change from VTR to video servers?
